Lupe Velez (1908 - 1944) A devout catholic, Velez was unable to cope with the shame of bearing an illegitimate child. Planning on taking an overdose, she created an elaborate death scene in which to be found. Unfortunately, the pills only made her nauseous, and she tripped on her way to the bathroom.
